Add S8 To Poco

ADD AN S8 MODULE TO POCO 4

Installation

The Pico S8 module allows you to assign Poco virtual switch commands to physical mechanical switches. This means that your MFD can remain on a dedicated screen or even be turned off, and a physical switch will activate the virtual switch command through the Poco module.

The process for setting up the S8 module differs from that of the other Expansion Modules and is covered in the sections below.

It is recommended that you use momentary (or momentary illuminated) switches when incorporating a Pico S8 Expansion Module into your lighting setup.

S8 Module Wiring Diagram

The S8 Module has two bundles of output wires exiting the housing. Power and ground (red positive and black negative) with the blue accessory wire. The second set of wires are color-coded and are connected to the output terminals of the switches.

  • The blue accessory wire connects directly to the blue wire of the Poco Module.
  • There are eight (8) wires which will allow up to eight momentary or momentary illuminated switches (less if latching illuminated switches are used, requiring additional connections).
  • Switches are required to be connected to an independent power source and be grounded (not shown on the diagram).
  • Momentary switches are recommended to allow on-screen digital switches and the physical switches to remain in sync (display active light at the same time).

How to Add an S8 Module to Poco

STEP 1:

  • Under the Automation tab, enable the “Enable Pico-S8 Module Support” button.
  • Select the first slot listed, “Pico-S8 Slot A”

STEP 2:

  • In the “Select Module Instance” drop-down menu, select Discover Modules.
  • The screen will refresh.
  • Now select the “Select Module Instance” drop-down menu again, and the S8 module should be listed.
  • Select the S8 Module and exit the pop-up window.

STEP 3:

  • In the Actions section, select “Add Action”.
  • Actions are listed sequentially based on the number of physical switches connected to the S8 Module.
  • Add a pre-created “Switch”; this will be the Poco command to be activated by the physical switch.
  • Add a “Trigger”, this will be the physical wire (listed by color), the open end of the physical switch is connected to the S8 Module. You will need to know this before setting up the S8 Module.
  • Save the action.

STEP 4:

  • If you are adding more than one switch, you would create another new Action, select the next available slot, and repeat the process.
